With the completion of this project, I officially consider my third year of art to be complete. It's funny how on projects where I'm supposed to demonstrate my overall understanding of art and my supposed competency, I still manage to fall short in some areas. This time around, the specific angle of the head really was a challenge for me. I realize now that this almost- profile-shot-but-not-really view is one I haven't ever done before, and so I was confused about how the elements of the face are supposed to appear. In the end, I think I managed to correct a lot of the underlying issues, but it still seems a tad bit off. Oh well. The only way to go from here is up!
I don't feel like I had as much of a productive year as I could have, but I do feel like I made some progress - particularly with the face and body proportions (even though I messed up here...). I almost feel ready to start tackling more dynamic compositions and including real backgrounds, but I want to improve my confidence level with drawing clothes first.
